Your day is special, to be remembered and cherished for the rest of your life
Holding your day in one of the most magical wedding venues in Yorkshire can only add to the occasion.
With the magnificent backdrop of the 13th century Barden Tower, this has to be one of the most historic of Yorkshire civil wedding venues. Steeped in romanticism and charm, this totally unique venue is surrounded by some of the best landscape the Yorkshire Dales can offer.
The photo opportunities are endless, with superb backdrops of the ruin of the once magnificent tower, the Priests House itself, the orchard, the woods and the valley stretching into the distance. The scenery and mystique of the place is dramatic whatever the season, especially the winter months with the dark nights actually complementing the authenticity of the medieval surroundings.
The Priests House is able to offer a small and intimate wedding in the House itself ranging from just yourselves up to 30, or a larger event of up to 70 in the Old Chapel including a full evening reception.
A fabulous chapel wedding
An intimate and exclusive ceremony
Weddings can be as large or small as you want. The Priests House itself is perfect for a small, intimate celebration for immediate family and friends - or even for just the two of you. The ceremony can be in the House or Chapel with a wedding breakfast of up to 30 in the House. With dark oak beams, open fires and candles this provides a truly historical setting. We only undertake one event on any day and hence you will have exclusive use of the House and immediate grounds and our dedicated attention. Relax and just enjoy the day...
The renovated "Old Chapel" providing a completely new setting
The Old Chapel beneath the House has been left unloved for many a year but is in the process of being sensitively renovated to provide a fabulous new wedding and function venue. Available from May 2016, it will be able to accommodate up to 70 guests for a ceremony, wedding breakfast and evening reception. It will have a civil wedding licence and provide a truly medieval setting oozing history and charm. You will have a totally exclusive use of the whole House and grounds for the duration of your stay.
What better than to exit from your ceremony looking out over the magnificent Wharfedale countryside!

A complete personal service
As the proprietor, Debbie will liaise with you directly throughout and be your hostess on the day itself
Nothing is too much trouble. Debbie and her staff will help you throughout your preparations to make sure your day runs as smoothly as possible. We only ever undertake one event on any day so you will have our undivided attention. Debbie can assist with designing and making your floral arrangements, including room displays, bouquets and button holes to complement your chosen colour scheme and making suggestions about room decor and layout to suit. All venues have limitations to what can be done and Debbie knows intimately what will and won't work at The Priests House. We only ever agree to arrangements we know we can deliver.
A venue for all seasons
The venue comes to light in the winter...
Whatever the season, The Priests House has a quite unique charm. From the freshness of spring, the glory of summer, the golds of autumn and to medieval mystique of winter, all provide a superb backdrop. Winter in particular, with the cold nights outside contrasting sharply to the warmth of the inside and the magic of the historical setting really comes to life.

" We really didn’t know what we wanted when we started thinking about getting married. Should we go for a full day ceremony and evening reception, or keep it low key for immediate family and friends? Did we want a city centre or a country house? Cost was a factor but not the thing that would dictate it. Undecided we just arranged to look at a few different places seeking inspiration.
We googled and came up with a string of places to visit…but it was whilst travelling between two of the appointments that we stumbled across The Priests House. What a quite stunning venue for a wedding, the Barden Tower – what a backdrop…what breathtaking views over the valley. We wandered round and had a quick chat with Debbie – a wedding due to start shortly and the house and marquee were all set up ready. The place looked fantastic.
We honoured the rest of our appointments but our heart was set. This was going to be our quite special wedding venue! And sure enough it was, it was perfect, immaculate, totally romantic, exquisite – I just can’t praise Debbie and the team enough. "

" This was our big day and Rebecca knew exactly what she wanted. There were to be no compromises! We needed a small and intimate venue in the Yorkshire countryside, with exclusive use and a picturesque romantic setting in a building with character. It didn’t take us long to find it on the internet.
The Priests House fit the bill and the reality when we visited matched the written description. This was truly that perfect wedding venue. Debbie was hospitality itself, we were demanding! Nothing was too much trouble and she gave such an air of confidence that everything would run smoothly whenever we saw her (which was frequently!).
And sure enough it did. The food was lovely (thanks Mark), the staff attentive and friendly and the whole setting perfection. No problem allowing us to continue the post ceremony drinks in the orchard as long as we wanted - no rushing, no fretting. Thank you so much. "

" The Priests House came recommended by a colleague at work. They’d attended a ceremony there the previous year and said it was “a quite fabulous place for a private ceremony and wedding”. To be honest we were thinking of just having the two of us so didn’t know whether this would work or not.
It was perfect. In fact so much so we just fell in love with the place and completely changed our mind and invited over thirty! What a day, no words can do it justice. We just felt totally at home. We also rented the Barden Bunk barn on site as well making it into a full midweek break. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it with even Debbie and Mark coming over to join us for a late evening drink. Thanks to all – this must be THE best wedding venue in Yorkshire bar none . "
